Advocacy Specialist

Disability Rights Montana is seeking an Advocacy Specialist to conduct representative payee reviews throughout the State of Montana. This position will be responsible for reviewing financial records of individuals receiving cash benefits through the Social Security Administration, interview representative payees, beneficiaries, and guardians, when applicable.

Applicant must have the ability to problem solve through research and possess excellent writing and communication skills. Applicant will be required to enter required information into data base and complete required reports. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Applicant for the position should have at least five years of qualifying experience; or a bachelor’s degree and three years of qualifying experience. Knowledge of Social Security benefits and the Americans with Disabilities Act is preferred.

Applicant will be required to complete a Social Security Administration suitability and credentialing process. The suitability and credentialing process conducted by the Social Security Administration will not begin until after employment begins, however; continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of this process.

Disability Rights Montana offers excellent benefits and competitive salary. Starting salary ranges from $34,000 – $44,200 DOE.

This position is located in Helena, Montana. Applicant must have a valid Montana driver’s license as travel is required.
